Module 4 will be tailored to focus on Kenyan specific peer to peer learning, experience sharing and group discussions on opportunities for lawyers in Kenya. This includes strategic planning input in developing human rights policies for businesses, undertaking human rights and environmental impact assessment and due diligence, sustainability and nonfinancial reporting, national and regional policy advocacy, legislative reforms and legal drafting, international development consulting, alternative disputes resolution, strategic litigation, training and capacity building, ESG compliance, transaction advisory, stakeholders/communities engagement and regulatory compliance.
Module 4 will take place as 1-day in person workshop in Nairobi for participants who successfully complete this self-paced e-learning BHR/ESG Course. This peer-to-peer learning and experience sharing session will be facilitated by Kenyan legal experts from leading law firms, Department of Justice, KNCHR, LSK and guest legal expert from DLA Piper Paris office. The tentative date for Module 4 Workshop is 28 or 30 November 2023. The Workshop costs have been sponsored by SIDA through DIHR thus no costs to participants. Those desire to earn a CPD Point will be required to apply and directly to LSK a CPD fee of kshs.1,500.00. Workshop Programme will be circulated to those who will register to attend.

Our final module will provide you with an understanding of opportunities for lawyers to guide businesses in developing human rights policies, undertaking human rights due diligence, facilitating effective access to remedy and broader implications of the last three modules focus as emerging areas of practice for lawyers. The module will explore local examples and trends in the Kenyan jurisdiction, as well as horizon-scanning future developments to ensure you upskill and futureproof to advise businesses, investors and regulators on emerging areas of practice: BHR, ESG, Sustainability etc.
Community of practice and Practical Tools
After this final module, you will be equipped with knowledge, skills, tools and resources to ensure you are part of leading ESG, BHR and Sustainability lawyers in Africa and to part of thought leaders and champions on implementing a robust BHR, ESG, Sustainability and Responsible Business framework for businesses in Kenya and in Africa. Moreover, you will be part of ongoing mentorship, network and community of practice of like-minded legal professionals advocating for responsible business practices in Kenya and in East Africa. .

Dr Victor Lando
Dr Victor Lando is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Human Rights and Democratisation from the University of Pretoria and a Doctor of Laws (LLD) degree, also earned from the University of Pretoria. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) Kenya and the Law Society of Kenya.
